BCCN FUNDAMENTAL PLAY WORKSHOPS

These workshops explore the variety of ways that fundamental play activities and materials may be presented to young children within Early Childhood services. The workshops will examine and explore play in the context of the three National Frameworks that impact on Early Childhood Services: Síolta, the Child Care (Pre-School Services) Regulations and Aistear. The workshops will also raise awareness of the importance of play and its fundamental value in the lives and the development of young children. While these workshops are aimed at staff working with Pre-School Services, they are easily adapted to suit the needs of Childminders and parents.

The Aim of the Workshops:

• To raise awareness on the importance of play and its fundamental value in the lives of young children.

• To highlight specific play activities that promote children’s development and learning

• To explore and examine the play activities in the context of the three National Frameworks:

          Síolta, Aístear and the Child Care (Pre-School Services) Regulations - Regulation 5

• To explore and examine the Role of the Practitioner within Pre-school settings
