Under the new partnership agreement employers should, where possible, increase staff salaries as recommended above.

When the salary increase is given it is at the discretion of the employer and subject to availability of funding.

Consideration should also be given to employees for the extra time they work within the setting outside of their contact time with children.

When deciding where you place staff on the salary scale you need to consider the following:

  • Level of training/qualifications of staff
  • Years of relevant experience
  • Number of Children employee is responsible for
  • Number of staff employed

It is further recommended that if possible employers add an additional 5% to cover the employers’ contribution to their employee’s pension scheme

If you are not in a position to do this then you are obliged to give your employees information on pension schemes and to set up a pension contribution scheme

Whereby employees can make their own pension contribution.
